Just an update or extension from my previous video since I wasn't happy with the quality of the audio or the rushed nature of the video.
This is still my little 4W ceiling fan that I converted to a wind turbine. I'm thinking about upgrading it to the 9W version which isn't that much bigger.
In this video I talk about how I took the ceiling fan mount apart and instead screwed the shaft of the fan directly to the PVC tubing. I used a mixture of water and electrical PVC pipe so make a swiveling platform.
Thanks to the swivel and the back fin, the turbine will always move itself to be facing into the wind and generating electricity.
The output from the ceiling fan is 100-200V AC, completely unregulated. Thankfully, most 110-220V AC appliances that have built in switch mode power supplies will happily work with the fluctuating input voltage.
This video was shot in Circuit Makati from Ayala Malls in Metro Manila, the Philippines.
